Marius van der Merwe, Metallurgical Engineer, Project Manager and entrepreneur with more than 21 years’ experience. Marius is the technical lead on the development of NewCarbon’s technology units and drives business development. He is the Founding Director and CEO of NewCarbon.
Mario du Plessis, Founding and New Innovations Director with 8 years’ experience in liquid-carbon production for agriculture. Mario is an innovator able to challenge established thought with lateral thinking and disruptive ideas. His current focus is on development of feedstock supply and preparation.
Belinda van der Merwe, Founding and Health Director, is a medical doctor and health specialist in nutrition. Belinda focusses on researching NewCarbon’s markets and potential product applications, with specific focus on health and nutrition products in conjunction with specialists.
Fred Brown, Founding and Projects Director with 30 years’ project and environmental management experience. Fred heads up projects in NewCarbon ensuring implementation within budget, time, scope, and quality, and ensuring strategic direction and good business governance is implemented.
Jacques van der Merwe, Market and Business Development Director with 25 years’ experience as an entrepreneur. Jacques has spent 6 years, from 2011 to 2017, in the USA in business development, international business management, and mergers and acquisitions. He is the founder and owner of several successful companies, and since 2018, has actively been engaged in NewCarbon in his current position and as a Founding Director.
Eltheus Kuhn, Production Manager and qualified Metallurgical Engineer with 7 years’ experience in the engineering industry and over 20 years of managing a farming business. Eltheus manages the entire production process, and provides technical support to the Engineering Design team to optimise the pyrolysis process of the pre-commercialization unit. He leads the commissioning campaigns as part of the Research and Development project to create high quality products for the consumer market.
Bernie Kemp, Senior Design Engineer and Engineering Manager with over 25 years’ experience in the engineering industry. Bernie plays a key role in optimising the pyrolysis process by converting conceptual ideas and discussions into detailed mechanical designs, and ensuring these designs are fabricated according to the required specifications and quality standards. He is responsible for developing design blueprints, facilitating the testing of prototypes, and overseeing the manufacturing process according to said design specifications and standards, within the agreed upon project timelines.
Barry Stead, Head of Market Development, is well known for his business skills and market development portfolio. Barry is responsible for securing scalable, sustainable, and profitable markets for products produced by NewCarbon and for ensuring that the produced products can be absorbed by these markets at the rate of production.
Hendrik de Waal, Site Operations Coordinator and Planner with previous experience working with pyrolysis units and over 15 years’ experience in the fabrication of steel work. Hendrik plays a key role at NewCarbon in assisting the Engineering Department with financial planning strategies and supporting the Financial Department with procurement and project planning.
Leon Jansen, Market Product Development Manager with over 25 years’ experience in the business and market development field. Leon takes lead in the Marketing Department of NewCarbon interms of branding, brand strategies, and marketing solutions to penetrate the consumer market with an optimal business presence, and to create healthy customer relations. Through the process of introducing new technology and products to the market, Leon supports and oversees the product development team to develop new and improve on current, marketing strategies.
Christiaan de Waal, qualified Human Resource professional. Christiaan is responsible for the management of the HR department, ensuring compliance and equality across all aspects. He is also responsible for coordinating the development of the SMME project’s cross-functionality with the SMME team to further community involvement and upliftment.
